On Friday the organ will receive its first public outing, as Keith demonstrates it to our local christian community at 7.45pm as part of our local ‘How Great Thou Art’ Festival, Visitors will also be able to see the display of ikons set up in church, and any visiting organists will be given the opportunity of putting the organ through its paces.

On Saturday the organ will be back at work accompanying Sung Vespers, which will be one lf the liturgies of the festival, at 5.30pm before its gets back to its regular role accompanying Sunday Mass at 11.15am.

  1. Stephen Lawrence's avatar Stephen Lawrence says:

What a splendid first formal outing for the new organ on Friday night. As an introduction to the organ we had eight pieces spanning three centuries played with great skill by Keith Ainsworth. From Bach to Howells, and from Mouret to Elgar and Dubois, the organ was certainly put through its paces.
The acoustics in the Church appear perfectly suited to the tone and the power of the organ. Softer registrations were clear and distinct, while powerful stops filled the Church without ever being too strident. The solo trumpet rescued and reconditioned from the original organ was a delight.
This is an organ that the parish of All Souls can be justly proud of.
